I’m taking advantage of some time this offseason to blog one of my favorite Film Family Session in Denver. This Film Family Session in Denver took place in one of my favorite locations. It is conveniently located just minutes from the city and one of my go-to’s! I started incorporating film photography into my family portrait sessions a little over a year ago. I have been so fulfilled shooting families on film since the transition.
Believe it or not, I learned photography on black and white film in a darkroom when I was younger. This past year has inspired me to push my family work to another level. Shooting film has helped me slow down and compose each image with poise, beauty, and authenticity. Above all, I absolutely love the movement film creates, as well as the grain, soft subtle colors, and slight imperfections that make it beautiful. Similarly, every time I receive my scans back from Richard Photo Lab, I am smitten with the way film captures light. While I shoot both film and digital in my day-to-day, I couldn’t wait to get the Schuler family in front of my camera over the summer. The images below were photographed all on medium format film on a Contax 646. I hope you enjoy this new path my family work is taking!
